Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oils for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, original, one-of-a-kind item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping.
The pompoms on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
