Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomads in Iran's Zagros Mountains. These rugs are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product comes from sheep living in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, giving it excellent durability and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.Gabbeh rugs, with their natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven wool by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush, comfortable feel.Expertly woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last 100 years, attesting to their superior durability.Born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing discomfort from heat. And above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.If it needs cleaning: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar cloth. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and uneven dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dyes may be present. This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping.
If requested, we can remove the pom-poms located on the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh rug before shipping.Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
