Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft and pleasant texture due to its high oil content, which helps in temperature regulation. Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran meticulously hand-weaving this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Gabbeh rugs, born from the harsh temperature fluctuations between day and night, are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation. And above all, there's their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be used on the floor, of course, but are also artistic enough to be displayed on walls. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, as well as weaving and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present. Please note that the odor will gradually dissipate with use.
