Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, plant-dyed wool rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oils that effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads with care, one thread at a time, using naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, feature many animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, original item.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can enjoy for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
