Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are long-pile rugs made from plant-dyed wool, deeply rooted in their way of life. The wool used in this product, known as Persian Variant, possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and is rich in natural oils, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture that helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing them from feeling hot. And above all, there is their artistic quality. The Gabbeh rugs created by the nomads from their imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can be used on the floor, of course, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and dirt with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, as well as weaving and dyeing irregularities. Please note that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present. This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
