Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool as part of their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and is rich in oil content, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, skillfully regulating body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads using natural dyes on such wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing heat buildup. And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, original item. They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be displayed on walls. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
As these are hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
