Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool to create long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant feel due to its high lanolin content, which helps regulate body temperature.
The Gabbeh, woven by Iranian nomads by hand, one strand at a time, using naturally dyed wool, is characterized by its plush and pleasant feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, offering a cool feel.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original and unique item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a piece you can enjoy for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar cloth. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilventilated shade.
Please Note
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, a distinctive odor from the dye used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
