Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, everyday carpets hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh Zagros Mountains and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content to regulate body temperature effectively. Gabbeh rugs, made by Iranian nomads who meticulously hand-weave each strand of this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And above all, there's its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created by the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, and irregularities in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the wool dyes may be present. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
