Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture is rich in natural oils, which helps with temperature regulation.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and each Gabbeh is carefully hand-woven by Iranian nomads, resulting in a fluffy and comfortable texture. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, indicating their superior durability.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing heat buildup.
And, of course, there's its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imaginations, often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shady area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape or pattern, weaving variations, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request
The pom-poms located at the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like the pom-poms removed, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
