Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs, deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture. Gabbeh rugs, dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven one by one by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Created in a climate with large daily temperature fluctuations, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing a feeling of heat. And then there's its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For persistent stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung-out towel. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
As these are hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool. The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
