Features of Hand-woven Persian Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil for effective body temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads one by one with this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, so they don't feel hot.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being an original, unique item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Vacuum or sweep to remove dirt and dust along the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel, etc., and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilventilated shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are all part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
