Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool with long piles, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature, making it soft and pleasant to the touch. Gabbeh rugs, made by Iranian nomads who meticulously hand-weave each strand of this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Originating from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also characterized by being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dust and dirt by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap of the rug. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung-out towel. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be variations in shape and pattern, as well as weaving and dyeing irregularities. Please note that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.
The pom-poms located at the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery. Removing the pom-poms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
