Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomads of Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool as an integral part of their daily lives. The wool used in this product, known as "Persian Valiant" wool, possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high oil content for effective thermoregulation, resulting in soft and pleasant-to-the-touch fibers.
The Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously one by one by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool feeling.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dyes may occur.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can be removed upon request for shipping

The pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before shipping if you request it.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
