Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomads inhabiting Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variat wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains and is rich in natural oils, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture that helps regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by Iranian nomads who carefully hand-weave each strand of this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool feeling.
And, above all, there is their artistry. The Gabbeh rugs created imaginatively by nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a piece you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth until damp, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and color variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dyes may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
