Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who inhabit the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are made from plant-dyed wool and deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture due to its high lanolin content, which helps regulate body temperature.
This wool is dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, resulting in a Gabbeh with a fluffy and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, showcasing their exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there's their artistic quality. The Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being an original, one-of-a-kind creation.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
How about finding your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
As these are hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape or pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
