Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of lanolin, giving it a soft and pleasant texture that helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven one by one by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with drastic temperature differences between day and night, also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing heat. And above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on walls as art. How about finding your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving unevenness, and dyeing unevenness. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
