Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in daily life, made from naturally dyed wool with a long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in natural oils for effective thermoregulation. Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, one strand at a time, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, showcasing its exceptional durability. Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer. And of course, there's its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dust and dirt with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape, pattern, weaving, and dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven product. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique scent from the wool dye. Please be aware that this scent will gradually fade with use.
