Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool to create long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture is rich in natural oils, which help regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by hand-dyeing this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weaving each strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh, born from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, is also characterized by being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing it from feeling hot.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can be placed on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Use a vacuum cleaner or broom to remove dirt and dust along the nap.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, uneven weaving, or uneven dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used to color the wool.
Please be aware that the smell will gradually dissipate with use.
Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping.
The pom-poms located on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish for the pom-poms to be removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
