Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, hand-weaving them from vegetable-dyed wool. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft and pleasant texture due to its high fat content, which helps regulate body temperature. The Gabbeh, made by nomadic Iranians who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, is characterized by its plush and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Originating from a climate with extreme day and night temperature differences, Gabbeh are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with no two being alike, each a unique, original piece. They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also suitable for hanging on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Vacuum or sweep along the pile to remove dirt and dust. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a handmade item. Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present. The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
