Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs, rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai nomads who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran using naturally dyed wool. The Persian Varianti wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture due to its high fat content, which helps regulate body temperature.
These wools are dyed with natural dyes and then meticulously hand-woven, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads, resulting in Gabbeh that are fluffy and pleasant to the touch.
Well-woven Gabbeh are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool feel.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. The Gabbeh created by the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can enjoy for a lifetime?
