Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool, and deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of oil for effective temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who hand-weave each strand with care after dyeing the wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also characterized by being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be hung on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a piece you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
