Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile carpets deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads living in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variat wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of lanolin for effective temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
These Gabbeh rugs, dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, thread by thread, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. The Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile direction.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a wrung-out towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to their hand-woven nature, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used on the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed upon shipment.
The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish for the pompoms to be removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via the email or phone number below.
