Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and is soft to the touch, containing a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, woven by Iranian nomads by hand, strand by strand, using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive smell from the dyes used on the wool.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping.
If you request, we can deliver your Gabbeh rug with the pom-poms on the corners or in the middle removed.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like to have the pom-poms removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
