Features of Persian Hand-knotted Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh are long-piled, hand-knotted rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who graze their flocks in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Valiant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft texture with a high oil content for effective thermoregulation.
Gabbeh rugs, made by Iranian nomads who carefully hand-knot each strand of this natural dye-colored wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a comfortable feel that doesn't make you feel hot.
And, above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
As these are hand-knotted, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-knotted item.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the wool dye may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
