Characteristics of Persian hand-woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai nomads, who hand-weave them from vegetable-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of oil for efficient body temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pom-poms can be removed before shipping

The pom-poms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
