Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in daily life, using vegetable-dyed wool with a long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oil content to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by dyeing this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weaving each strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from the climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique scent from the dyes used on the wool.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
