Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomadic herders in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant-feeling texture contains a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomadic people in Iran who meticulously hand-weave each strand of this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last 100 years.
Born from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created by the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
