Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile carpets deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai tribe, who weave them by hand using plant-dyed wool while nomadic in Iran's Zagros Mountains. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and is rich in oil, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, skillfully regulating body temperature.
These Gabbehs, made by Iranian nomads who carefully hand-weave each strand of wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbehs are said to last for 100 years, demonstrating their exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbehs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, and each one is a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
How about finding your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
Please be aware that the odor will gradually dissipate with use.
