Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomads inhabiting the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture rich in oils for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads thread by thread after dyeing this wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their soft and fluffy texture.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, indicating its superior durability.
Born from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are also known to be warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing overheating.
And above all, their artistry. Gabbehs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh that is uniquely yours and that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth or towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can also be removed before shipping.
The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pompoms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
