Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. They are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Varianti wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high fat content to skillfully regulate body temperature.
Gabbehs woven by Iranian nomads, meticulously hand-knotting each thread of this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbehs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing heat buildup.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbehs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth or towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dyes may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can also be removed before shipping
The pompoms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed and delivered in that state if requested.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish for your order to be shipped without pompoms, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
