Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who live in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. These long-piled rugs, made from plant-dyed wool, are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, allowing it to withstand the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which contains a high oil content to effectively regulate body temperature.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and each Gabbeh is hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads, resulting in a fluffy and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbehs are said to last for 100 years, showcasing their exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing overheating.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbehs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as a piece of art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used on the wool.
This smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
