Characteristics of Hand-Woven Persian Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, everyday carpets hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture due to its high oil content, which helps with temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs are made by nomads in Iran, who meticulously hand-weave each strand of this natural-dyed wool, resulting in a plush and comfortable feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbehs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
