Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variat wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and is soft to the touch, containing a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively. These Gabbeh rugs, woven by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, one strand at a time, are characterized by their plush and pleasant texture. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last 100 years. Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat. And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece with no two alike. They can be used on the floor, of course, but also displayed as art on walls. Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug, a piece you can enjoy for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a wrung-out towel or similar. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Please Note
As these are hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
