Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads of Iran, who reside in the Zagros Mountains. These rugs are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils for effective body temperature regulation. These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven thread by thread by Iranian nomads using natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. Strongly woven Gabbeh rugs are renowned for their durability, said to last for 100 years. Originating from a climate with extreme daily temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs keep you warm in winter and feel cool in summer due to their breathability. And of course, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Vacuum or sweep along the pile to remove dirt and dust. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar cloth. Afterward, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the handmade nature, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Consequently, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present. This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request for shipping.

Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
