Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are made from plant-dyed wool and are deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Varied sheep wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant feel with a high oil content to effectively regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven with care by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, using naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture. Tightly woven Gabbeh are incredibly durable, said to last for 100 years. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And then there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imaginations, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dyes used on the wool may be present. The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
