Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are made from naturally dyed wool and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, made by Iranian nomads who carefully hand-weave each strand of this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be hung on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can use forever?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with plain water to remove detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please be aware that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dye used on the wool.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
