Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs made by Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, hand-woven from plant-dyed wool and deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with abundant oils to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbehs, hand-woven thread by thread by Iranian nomads after dyeing the wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbehs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Gabbehs, born from the climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, with the characteristic of not feeling hot.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbehs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh that you can use forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a wet cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, dyeing inconsistencies, etc. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dyes may occur.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping
The pom-poms on the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
