Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in daily life and made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and contains a lot of oil, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, adept at regulating body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven one by one by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbehs are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there's their artistic quality. Gabbehs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original item with no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as a piece of art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving unevenness, and dyeing unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
