Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture contains a lot of fat to effectively regulate body temperature. Gabbeh, hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. Well-woven Gabbeh are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years. Born from a climate with large temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing you from feeling hot. Daily Care

Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. If you are concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar item tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.

Due to hand-weaving, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving. Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used on the wool. The smell will gradually fade with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
