Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai tribe, who weave them by hand using vegetable-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and its soft texture with abundant natural oils allows for effective temperature regulation.
Gabbeh, woven by Iranian nomads who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, also feature the ability to be warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be displayed on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
