Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant-to-the-touch texture contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbehs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one thread at a time, using naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their soft and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbehs are highly durable, said to last 100 years.
Gabbehs, born from a climate with large temperature differences between day and night, also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbehs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
As these are hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used for the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
