Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile carpets deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of lanolin, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, ideal for regulating body temperature.
The Gabbehs are made by dyeing this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weaving each thread by Iranian nomads, resulting in a plush and comfortable texture.
Gabbehs are known for their exceptional durability, said to last for 100 years when properly woven.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are also characterized by being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbehs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They are so artistic that they can be displayed on walls as art, in addition to being placed on floors.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dust and dirt by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape or pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can also be removed for shipping

The pom-poms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pom-poms removed for shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
