Features of Persian Hand-Knotted Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-knotted by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-knotted by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing heat buildup.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can, of course, be placed on the floor, but also hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel or similar. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-knotted, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-knotted items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may occur.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed upon shipment

The pompoms located on the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
