Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool with a long pile. They are deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, and adept at temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, hand-dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and delightful feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, demonstrating its exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme day-night temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth until nearly dry, and gently wipe the surface. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
