Characteristics of Persian Hand-knotted Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-knotted by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are made from vegetable-dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its high lanolin content gives it a soft, pleasant feel, allowing for effective temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-knotted by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool.
And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, original creation.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
As these are hand-knotted, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a handmade product.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Consequently, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request

The pom-poms located at the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before shipping if you request it.
Removing the pom-poms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pom-poms removed, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
