Characteristics of Persian Hand-knotted Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-knotted rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai nomads who herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and is rich in natural oils, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, as it helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, hand-knotted piece by piece by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Gabbeh rugs, born from the dramatic temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing them from feeling hot. And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art. Why not find a special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Vacuum or sweep along the pile to remove dirt and dust. If stains are a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-knotted, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-knotted item. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Tassels can be removed upon shipment

The tassels attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the tassels will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
