Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft and pleasant texture rich in oils to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by hand-dyeing this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weaving each thread by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, there is their artistry. The Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, original work of art.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
Gabbeh rugs are meant to be cherished for a long time; why not find your own special Gabbeh?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to their hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As such, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request

The pom-poms located at the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before shipment upon your request.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively impact the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
