Characteristics of Persian Hand-Knotted Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are hand-knotted by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically live in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil for good thermoregulation, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling wool.
Gabbeh rugs, hand-knotted one by one by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap.
If you notice stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
