Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, nomadic people in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool to create long-piled rugs rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation. These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously one by one by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are renowned for their exceptional durability, said to last up to 100 years. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also known for being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And then there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, original piece. They can be placed on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug, a piece you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and color variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed upon request for shipping

If you prefer, we can remove the pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh rug before shipping. Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
