Features of Hand-woven Persian Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. They are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product comes from sheep that live in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, giving the wool excellent durability to survive and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content to regulate body temperature.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven meticulously, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads, resulting in a plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, there is their artistry. The Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can, of course, be placed on the floor, but they are also beautiful enough to be displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a piece you can enjoy for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
